Inclusive Tourism: Exploring how Autistic People Find Information when Planning Holiday Travel

What is the project about?

We know that planning a holiday can involve a lot of time and effort - choosing where to stay, how to get there, and what to do. Autism Queensland (AQ) and the University of Queensland (UQ) are working together on a research project to better understand what information is most important to autistic travellers when planning a holiday. We're also interested in how this information is found and used to make travel decisions.

If you’re over 18 years of age and an autistic person who has planned a holiday, we’d love to hear about your experience.

We would like to talk with you about:

  • The information you looked for and,
  • How you found it.
For more information, please read the Participant Information Sheet, which can be found here: CLICK

Who is on the project team?

You will meet with Merrill and Caitlin, members of the project team, to discuss and share your holiday planning experiences.

What will I need to?

If you agree to participate, you would:

  • Provide photos: Email 3-4 photographs from a holiday (this could be something you really enjoyed, souvenirs, or even something that was a bit stressful)

  • Have a conversation with 2 members of our project team: This will take about 30-40mins.It could be online, in-person, or by phone. We will record this conversation, but let us know if you prefer that we don't.

  • Send us feedback on a summary of the conversation that we will send you about a month later.
You can ask someone to support you or be part of the conversation.

More information on what to expect during the discussion, can be found here: CLICK

What if I decide to participate?

Before we connect with you, we need your consent to participate.

  • Consent means you are agreeing to participate.
  • It is completely up to you, and you can change your mind at any time.

All information you share in this session will be confidential.

  • This means we will keep it safely.

We will keep your personal information private.

  • This means we will only share the information you tell us if you say we can or if the law says we have to.
  • We will not share your contact details outside of the project team, and they will only be used so you can receive your gift card for your contribution.
  • Only the Project Team will have access to your information.
